We expect many students interested in the program will be seeking employment in fields such as medicine, law, engineering, management, news media and academic fields, although classes are not limited to people pursing careers of this kind.
LINC 6-7 classes are offered from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday
One of the aims of the program is to introduce students to job opportunities in the City of Guelph and surrounding region. To that end, our program will include guest speakers - many of them New Canadian - who are working and advancing in a professional capacity and can explain to students some of the secrets of their success. Guest speakers may also help students who are "networking" in the job search quest.
We offer teaching material which deal with job specific vocabularies - the language of clinics and hospitals, courts and office workplaces, to give a few examples. Our aim is to help students move ahead with confidence, using English daily as the cornerstone of a professional working life in Canada. Finally, our teachers' knowledge of issues of high level grammar, including the content TOEFL and IELTS tests, will be great help to students pursing higher education or otherwise in need of precise grammatical knowledge.
Our teachers bring exceptional imagination and experience and preparation to every class. Students can expect an exciting and lively experience to English language learning which will inspire them to open up to the language more in their daily lives. Pair and group work, classroom drama, informal and formal presentations, debate and brainstorming will be a part of every week of classroom activities.
