Language Instruction for Newcomers: teach Benchmarks 0 English to level 7. Coming up early January 2008 will teach Benchmarks level 7 to 10 for Nurses and Engineers. More Information... Students must not be Canadian citizens (i.e., convention refugees, landed immigrants) and must need improvement in their English skills. Provides English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction. Classes emphasize orientation to Canadian culture and integration into Canadian society. Program components are: Language Instruction Classes (oral and written); use of the Language Laboratory's audiovisual equipment; Computer instruction. Job Search For New Canadians: is a free 5-week course which helps immigrants find work and understand the Canadian Workplace. Those who will be considered include immigrants who are unemployed and looking for work, legally entitled to work in Canada and have a minimum 5 English as tested by the Guelph Multicultural Centre. Clients will learn resume writing, on camera interviews, telephone skills, Canadian Workplace safety information, expectations of Canadian Employers, Labour Market information, education interpretation from their country to Canada, Job Leads, and ongoing support.
